1.GENERAL STATUTES

1.1. This Statute on the title of "Professor of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan" ("Professor of NAS RK") (hereinafter referred to as the Statutes) was worked out in accordance with the By-laws of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter - NAS RK) and approved by the protocol of the Presidium of NAS RK, dated November 16, 2017

1.2. The "Professor of NAS RK" title is given by the Presidium of NAS RK to scientists engaged in scientific (research) and (or) scientific and educational activities in scientific organizations and higher educational organizations for scientific achievements on national and (or) international level, as well as for active participation in the implementation of the main tasks and functions of NAS RK.

1.3. The "Professor of the NAS RK" title is an honorary one and is awarded to Kazakh scientists who are not members of NAS RK, as well as researchers with Kazakh citizenship working in foreign scientific centers and universities if they:

1.3.1. have scientific achievements of national and (or) international level in the relevant field of science, recognized by the scientific community and have a doctorate in science, as well as PhD, who is professor of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Also, at the discretion of the departments of NAS RK, candidates who have a scientific degree obtained in a foreign country recognized in the Republic of Kazakhstan (PhD, etc.) can be considered.  

1.3.2. have scientific works of great importance for the relevant field of science and are indexed in the international information systems of scientific citation, published in high-ranking scientific publications, read lecture courses at a high professional level;

1.3.3. promote the development and implementation of research activities in scientific organizations and higher educational organizations in the Republic of Kazakhstan with the involvement of students, graduate students and young scientists;

1.3.4. have seniority in scientific activities, as a rule, at least 10 years in scientific organizations and (or) higher educational organizations and participate in the training of scientific personnel, carry out scientific guidance or scientific advice;

1.3.5. have awards, honorary titles, including membership in academies, scientific communities, etc..

1.3.6. there are no age restrictions.

2. AVENUES OF PROMOTION OF THE PROFESSOR NAS RK

2.1. The right to nominate candidates for the title of "Professor of NAS RK" is given to academicians of NAS RK and corresponding members, as well as on representation of the Departments and RepOffices of NAS RK.

2.2. Persons who have been awarded the title of "Professor of NAS RK" are issued with a certificate of the established type.

2.3. Information on promotion of the title of "Professor of NAS RK" is published in the journal "Bulletin of NAS RK" and on the official website of NAS RK.

3 3. RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PROFESSOR OF NAS RK

3.1. Professor of NAS RK has the right:

3.1.1. to submit for the consideration of the department proposals on the development of priority areas of research, technology and high technology;

 3.1.2. to take part in the activities of the Department that elected him, as well as the representation office of NAS RK and in the work of the session of the General Meeting of NAS RK with the right of advisory vote;

3.1.3. to participate in the work of scientific, expert, coordinating councils, committees and commissions of NAS RK on the most important areas of science and technology development; to participate in the implementation of expert functions of NAS RK according to established procedure;

3.1.4. to participate in other activities aimed at the implementation of the main tasks and the implementation of the functions of NAS RK.

3.2. Professor of NAS RK is obliged:

3.2.1. to actively participate in the implementation of tasks assigned to  NAS RK, and to contribute to the achievement of the objectives of its activities;

3.2.2. to comply with the requirements of this Statute on the title of "Professor of NAS RK" and to promote the strengthening of the links between science and education;

3.2.3. to participate in the popularization and propagation of science, scientific knowledge, the achievements of science and technology, and to comply with the norms of scientific ethics, to promote the prestige of science.

4. FINAL STATUTES

This STATUTE, as well as the introduction of amendments thereto, shall be approved by the Presidium of NAS RK in accordance with the established procedure.
